More about Linda Mellin
As a Northern lass, Linda has spent her life inspired by the Yorkshire and Lake District landscape, and animals that fill it, with much of her inspiration drawn from many happy childhood trips to the Lake District. Her love of graphic design and painting have been combined in her bright, vibrant pieces that capture the landscapes and animals that she has spent her life admiring. Linda considers herself incredibly fortunate to be able to explore the landscapes and market towns of the beautiful North to create new pieces. In 2017 Linda was named Landscape Artist of the Year by Yorkshire Life Magazine and in 2022 she won the Fine Art Guilds “Up and Coming Artist of the Year”
Many moons ago she had four fabulous years studying Graphic Design at York culminating with a distinction in Industrial Art and Design. As a student when working on thumb-nail sketches for designs she frequently had her initial designs torn up by her tutor for putting in too much detail!...thirty years on she still gets lost in the detail – spending hours perfecting each part of the layout of her paintings before she even starts to apply the paint! Every piece Linda creates is the accumulation of weeks of work, and we hope you love the finished pieces as much as Linda loves creating them.
Whilst Linda is exploring new places to paint, or busy painting away in her studio, someone has to be framing the prints for you all to enjoy! This is where Duncan, Linda’s eldest son, comes in. Duncan is chief print distributor, and works from Gargrave with his partner Sophie creating your orders, and supplying fabulous galleries around the Yorkshire and Lake District areas.
